History and development
INPHORA (Institute for Photometry and Radiometry) Inc. was
established in 1989, as a privately owned corporation. A typical "garage-company"
start in the Silicon valley - started as a laboratory for calibration and optical
measurements of filter-detector combinations, lead by Dr Kathleen Muray, (previously
head of the Optical Metrology Laboratory at Siemens OptoElectronics in Cupertino,
CA) founder and president of Inphora Inc.
During the years of operation new products
were developed and added to the product line; a range of photometer heads such as
illuminance, irradiance, total flux, temperature conversion filters, temperature
controlled photometers, LED photometer, luminance standard, LED standards with temperature
and current control. New, unique technologies were developed for fabricating key
components - such as CIE tristimulus filter/detector combinations for high precision
color measurements and light sources for reference standards. On cutomers requested
various custom products; They have been developed and introduced to the portfolio
– such as CCD camera-filter combinations for color measurement, Color temperature
transformation filters, LED photometers, etc.
The unique precision of the products and the ability of providing exactly the requested
characteristics lead Inphora to win industry-leader global companies as customers.
Beyond Dr Muray, other renowed experts provide the background for creative product
and technology development. With this unique scientific power and with testing laboratories
and manufacturing sites in the US and in Europe, today Inphora is a global partner
for the optical radiation measurement industry.
Inphora's mission & strategy
When fouding Inphora, Dr. Kathleen Muray had a desire
to create instruments which can advance the measurement precision of luminous and
radiant quantities of light sources, detectors and other optical elements. Having
understood the needs for research and development, the must for precision and stability
of our clients, we built our activities around the cornerstones that makes our company
unique in the industry.
1. We make exactly what you need. Our client does not have
to compromise in its development - we develop the product that maches exactly with
the requested characteristics. Each item can be unique.
2. We do not sacrifice quality. Our instruments and components use state-of-the art
technique, the best of materials available for the purpose; and manufacturing is
performed by highly skilled technicians using methods developed during many years
of research and scientific theory.
3. There is no small contract. We own the technology and the network to be cost-effective
enough for very attractive pricing even for smallest parts, one-piece orders.
